Sophie Wong

Sophie Wong is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the journey of womanhood and reflects on her Caribbean heritage, forging intimate connections between identity, ancestry, and motherhood. Born and raised in Miami, Florida, her work is deeply rooted in the multicultural landscape and interconnectedness of her ancestral community. Through emotionally centered portraits and narrative scenes in earthy tones, Sophie explores themes of inner strength and the emotional resonance of personal and collective experiences.

As a graduate of New World School of the Arts, she went on to SUNY Purchase College and has since developed bodies of work addressing heritage, resilience, and growth. Since 2010, Sophie has actively contributed to the South Florida arts community as a professional artist, muralist, and educator, focusing on connection and empowerment, especially for young people and women of color. Her murals throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties often highlight unity and cultural identity.

 

 

Sophie has received the Miami-Dade County Individual Artist Grant in 2024 and the Artist Support Grant in 2026 from Broward County Cultural Division, recognizing her creative achievements and commitment to community art. Her work has been widely exhibited in South Florida, and she continues to nurture her practice from Hollywood, Florida.
